‘I’m going to provide plenty to them’: Jimmy Bartel explains why he’s joining the Giants board

Geelong triple premiership player Jimmy Bartel has joined the GWS Giants board.

The Cats legend was announced as the newest member of the Giants board following off-field football roles with Brisbane Lions and Caulfield Grammar in previous years.

The Giants made the announcement on Tuesday and Bartel told Sportsday the “incredible people” at the club made the offer too good to refuse.

“I bring a (player perspective) to the business minds of the board,” he said.

“If you spend too long at one club, it’s not great for your learning.

“I see it as a good opportunity to learn and round myself out but also feel I’m going to provide plenty to them.

“We’re not trying to build a nice, fun club in the west of Sydney, we want to win a premiership.”
