Reforms to the immigration policy have been announced by the federal government as a recent Resolve poll revealed a majority of Australians believe the current migrant intake is too high.

Immigration minister, Andrew Giles, says they’ve hired experts to review the current immigration policy.

“The question is how do we get the balance right over time … But what’s happened over time is we’ve had an unbalance between the permanent system which is capped and a demand driven temporary system,” he told Neil Mitchell.
