‘In the direct line’: 3AW listeners detail ‘concerning’ situation in Alexandra

An emergency warning has been issued for Alexandra, as the Longwood fire continues to burn out of control.

Residents have called in to 3AW to detail ‘concerning’ scenes as the current emergency situation unfolds.

As volunteers prepare to face the fire, one CFA volunteer told Laura Spurway, “Our town [is] unfortunately, in the direct line of fire.”

One caller rang in concerned for his parents, who he says are taking shelter on the cricket oval.

He told Shane McInnes, “There is nothing there, there are no masks, there’s no water, there’s no tents, nothing.”
