Incident at Loddon Prison

Corrections Victoria has confirmed there was an emergency situation at Loddon Prison on Thursday night but says it should not be characterised as a riot.

The trouble began at the medium security facility about 8pm.

A prisoner got onto the roof of the medium security facility, with dozens of prisoners flowing out onto the grounds to watch the incident unfold.

The prison was put into lockdown.

There wasn’t any significant damage caused.

Nobody was injured.
