A young constable has detailed how a wrong turn ended up saving the life of a woman having a cardiac arrest on a footpath in Berwick last night.

“That’s an incredible story,” 3AW Breakfast host Ross Stevenson said.

Adam Stefaniw from Cranbourne Police was the one who leapt into action with one of his co-workers to perform CPR on the woman.

“We pretty much took the wrong turn actually,” Constable Stefaniw said.

A woman in her 60s was transported to the Victorian Heart Hospital in a critical condition after the constables revived her.

“It would be very rewarding to catch up with her,” he said.
