Infamous Anglesea caravan park tender process given the all clear
The infamous tender process that saw an Anglesea caravan park forced to close has been given the all clear.
As 3AW Drive broke during summer, the much-loved Anglesea Beachfront Family Caravan Park will be no more after the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee decided it won’t extend its lease.
Instead, GORCC awarded the tender to itself.
A state government-commissioned report into the tender process concluded the process was fine, claiming that GORCC was acting in Victoria’s economic interests.
However, local MP Richard Riordan disagrees.
‘How can getting rid of $10m worth of community assets benefit that community?’ he told Tom Elliott on Friday.
Mr Riordan said the decision was ‘ideological’.
‘They just don’t like campers, and they don’t want people down on the foreshore,’ he said.
