Inner-northern council unveils alternative e-scooter plan

An inner-city council mayor has made the case for an alternative e-scooter plan for Melbourne.

With the City of Melbourne ending their contracts with e-scooter hire companies, Moonee Valley Mayor Pierce Tyson says the approach had to change if the transport method has a future in the city.

“This isn’t designed to replace driving or public transport,” he said on 3AW Breakfast.

“But really, (this is about) plugging short the gap for short journeys a lot of the time.”
