Inspiring Victorian foster carer’s Grand Final treat

Tom Elliott

A foster carer and two teenagers she cares for will get a special treat this weekend.

Jennie, an inspiring Victorian who has been taking in troubled, neglected teens for 18 years, will be attending the Grand Final with two teens as guests of the AFL.

It was organised with the help of 3AW Mornings and the AFL.

‘I started doing foster caring when one of my children, who was 12, bought home a boy who was sleeping at the station,’ Jennie told Neil Mitchell.

‘I was asked to keep him for one night and he stayed 7.5 years.’

Neil Mitchell said it was about saying thank you and he loved the idea when an old friend suggested it to him.

Another foster carer family will also be treated to the Grand Final package.
