International relations expert says it’s time to put troops on ground to fight Islamic State

Tom Elliott

It’s time to put troops on the ground to fight Islamic State, says one international relations expert.

Dr David Wright-Neville, senior risk analyst at Globe Communications, joined Neil Mitchell in studio for an hour-long chat about the state of affairs following the terror attacks in Paris.

He said while air strikes continued to dent the strength of Islamic State, more needed to be done.

‘I think we need a combination of air power and boots on the ground,’ Dr Wright-Neville explained on 3AW Mornings.

‘We’ve got the first part of the equation ? which we are well involved in.

‘We move to the second part ? boots on the ground.

‘That’s probably the next stage of dealing with the threat.’
