The father of a teenager who has had surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital cancelled three times has called out Daniel Andrews on 3AW, saying the government keeps “playing with the lives” of sick Victorians.

Matt got in touch with 3AW after surgeons told him his son’s operation had to be put off again due to COVID-19 rules tightening for the next three weeks.

“I just want to be clear – I don’t want to put anything against the children’s hospital – they have been fantastic and they are incredible people,” he said.

“This is a government issue.”

But he says it’s not good enough.

“I’m absolutely irate, Neil,” Matt said.

“This is not just about my son, it’s about the tens of thousands of people that need treatment to make their life better.

“The government is playing with people, they are playing with people’s lives.”

The health department and hospital would not respond to inquiries about the issue from 3AW.
