A documentary examining the murders of three Irish nationals in Melbourne – including Jill Meagher – has taken aim at Victoria’s parole system.

The documentary titled Murder In Melbourne is set to screen on Ireland’s national broadcaster RTE this morning.

It focuses on the 2012 murder of ABC staffer Jill Meagher, as well as the death of Irishman David Green – who was stomped on at a St Kilda hostel.

The film also examines the 2013 murder of Hastings jewellery store owner Dermot O’Toole.

The documentary takes aim at what it says were failings of Victoria’s parole system, with all three brutally murdered within the space of a year and all by men who had previously been convicted of serious crimes.
