If you’ve had the pleasure of driving north out of Sydney, you would have driven over the Hawkesbury River Bridge in Mooney Mooney, on the Central Coast.

If you were paying attention, you would have noticed Peat Island on  your left.

Despite being seemingly insignificant, the island has a rich history.

Luke chats with Author Adrian Mitchell about the islands significance to the local indigenous community, the horrors that occurred when it was a hospital for people with mental illnesses and what his thoughts are on the NSW government granting ownership to the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council.
