‘It simply costs too much’: Aussies choosing to freeze to avoid a high energy bill

Aussies are choosing to shiver this winter rather than turning on their heaters thanks to climbing energy prices.

With individuals either going completely without heat over the colder months, or changing up their habits to keep warm.

Appearing on 3AW Mornings, Utilities Expert at Finder Mariam Gabaji said that continual cost of living pressures are forcing Aussies to make hard choices.

“You’re paying more for groceries and potentially your mortgages with the interest rate hikes. So they’re trying to cut corners wherever they can. And heating is one of those things,” Gabaji said.

Host Tom Elliott affirmed that Victoria needs to find more gas sources to keep up with demand.
