‘It still matters’: Ombudsman again calls for Andrews Government apology
Victoria’s Ombudsman maintains the Andrews Government should apologise for the brutal hard lockdown of nine public housing towers in July 2020, due to COVID.
Some 3000 residents were banned from leaving their homes due to outbreaks of the virus.
It was later found to be a breach of human rights.

Ombudsman Deborah Glass told 3AW Mornings an apology to the residents was the only recommendation she’d made in 11 reports the government has refused to accept.
“Of course that’s disappointing,” she said.
“It still matters.”
