‘It’s a joke’: Mark Allen’s strong reaction to police revelation following Israeli restaurant attack
Mark Allen had a strong reaction to the revelation police were told not to confront CBD protesters before the attack on an Israeli restaurant last Friday night.
It comes after a new anti-hate taskforce was announced by Premier Jacinta Allan on Monday following the attack on the restaurant and an East Melbourne synagogue.
“We need a taskforce to see what the hell is going on in this state!” Allen said on 3AW Breakfast.

Police were caught unprepared for the violence at Miznon, after officers were told not to engage with the earlier anti-police demonstration at the State Library.
A source has told The Age, during a tactical briefing on Friday afternoon, a decision was taken for police to not have a physical presence at the protest, to avoid inflaming the group.
It meant that officers, who were waiting on buses parked in side streets, were not immediately aware when some protesters starting walking towards the restaurant.
Victoria’s new chief commissioner Mike Bush has ordered a review.
