West Coast Eagles coach Adam Simpson has praised the “rag-tag” players that have topped up the clubs list as it continues to grapple with COVID-19 and injuries.

The club got it’s first win over Collingwood on the weekend, pipping the Pies by 13 points at the MCG.

Adam Simpson praised the effect the non-listed players have had on the group.

“We get these rag-tag boys who come down, great country players, who just love playing footy,” Simpson said on 3AW’s Sportsday.

“We get them to train with us, so we’ve sort of connected pretty well who haven’t been on AFL lists.

“So when we had these guys come down to us … (we) sort of just treated them the same.

“It actually gave you a little bit of perspective too, because the smile on their faces just to be at training from some of those boys – that was infectious.”
