‘It’s not about condemning kids’: Calls grow for Australian grading system to be overhauled
Calls for the current Australian grading system to be sacked are growing louder, as reports reveal that students are being discouraged.
Australia presently uses the A-E grading system, and is now being linked to why so many kids are being left behind and are unable to catch up.
Appearing on 3AW Breakfast, Chair of the Institute for Educational Reform, David Loader, said that there is plenty of room for healthy competition without completely writing off students.

“The whole system is messed up. It’s not the teachers or the students fault and yes it does discourage students from even trying” Loader said.
With evidence now suggesting that the system alongside how students are tested is focused more on recall than retention.
