Cars have been forced to swerve off the road to avoid a police pursuit in Melbourne’s south-east this morning.

Caller Mark told 3AW Breakfast he was heading down Cranbourne-Frankston Rd when the car flew past him.

“It looked like an old Mitsubishi van travelling down the wrong side of the highway,” Mark said.

“When it passed me, looked like it was about six cop cars, it’s pretty crazy at the moment.”

Police later confirmed they are looking for a man and woman following a short pursuit in Frankston.

The stolen white van was seen in the car park of a shopping centre at the intersection of Cranbourne Road and Karringal Drive about 7.15am.

The pair were seen in a white Ford, Econovan, registration number 1CK 4GD but as police approached the vehicle, it fled in an easterly direction on Cranbourne Road.

Police followed the vehicle for a short distance, however the pursuit was terminated due to safety reasons.

Anyone who sights the car or has information is urged not to approach the vehicle but to contact Triple Zero.
