‘It’s time to act’: Catherine King called out over latest airport rail link news

The federal government still cannot give a timeline for exactly when passengers will be on trains to the airport.

Premier Ben Carroll and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have announced construction on the $4 billion stage two of the airport link set to begin in 2028, with a 7.4 kilometre track to be built to a new Keilor East station, which is expected to be finished in 2031.

And Federal Infrastructure Minister Catherine King has been called out over what she had to say today.

“The time for talk is over,” 3AW host Shane McInnes said.

“It ain’t an airport rail link yet, it’s an extended train line to Melbourne’s north-west.”
