Ivanhoe businesses hit by tradies taking up the public parking
Victoria is experiencing a construction boom.
But one of the costs of the boom is the increased presence of tradies – and their cars.
In Ivanhoe, for example, a few developments have seen tradies take over a local car park.
Chris Florance is a newsagent whose business has taken a hit due to lack of parking space available to the public.
‘The tradies themselves are great, it’s just that they’re taking up public spots that would normally get customers to come down our strip,’ Mr Florance told Neil Mitchell.
Neil acknowledged it is a tricky situation.
‘We want the tradies there, because we want the work being done,’ he said.
‘But if you’re running a local business, you don’t want your business affected.
