Senior Government Minister Jacinta Allan says rules will be changed to ensure suburban politicians can no longer claim an allowance meant for country members.

The changes will be considered by cabinet on Monday after Telmo Languiller and Don Nardella were forced to resign following revelations they’d claimed $140,000 under the second residence allowance scheme.

Ms Allan said on 3AW Mornings she couldn’t understand how her colleagues thought it was acceptable.

‘I feel uncomfortable about the way my colleagues have applied this entitlement,’ she told Neil Mitchell.
