Jack Steven suffers punctured lung in loss to West Coast
St Kilda has suffered another hefty injury blow, with gun midfielder Jack Steven sustaining a punctured lung.
The reigning best and fairest winner suffered the injury in the dying stages of the Saints’ loss to West Coast on Saturday night.
‘Due to the nature of the injury, Jack is unable to fly for the next day or two and will remain in Perth with club doctor Tim Barbour before flying back as soon as he is medically cleared,’ St Kilda said in a statement.
The club has already ruled Steven out of next Sunday’s must-win clash with Brisbane at Etihad Stadium.
It’s the second week in a row the Saints have been dealt an injury to a key player, with champion Nick Riewoldt suffering bone bruising in his knee in Round 1.
