Jacqui Felgate has questioned Transurban group executive of operations, Dave Clements, on the traffic in the West Gate Tunnel.

According to new data released by tolling company, the $10.2 billion project has driven down the number of trucks on local inner-west streets by 90 per cent.

But the 3AW Drive host has questioned why data on the amount of cars using the tunnel hasn’t made public to taxpayers.

Press PLAY to hear the questions she put to the Transurban executive

“Why won’t you tell the average taxpayer, who are now paying an extra 10 years of tolls and $10 billion, how many cars are using it a day?” Felgate asked.

“28,000 cars a day was the modelling for when the tunnel opened, and now we’re not being told how many, I find it difficult to justify that.”
