Jacqui Felgate has delivered an emotion-charged editorial, calling out the state government’s inaction following the horrific double murder in Cobblebank on the weekend.

A 12-year-old and 15-year-old were stabbed to death by machete-wielding thugs, and the 3AW Drive host didn’t hold back on the silence from the state government, including Premier Jacinta Allan.

“For every single one of you, I’m exasperated and I’m furious,” Felgate said.

“Why are you putting three statements out that involve yourself (Jacinta Allan) and the politics of the Labor Party, when we have two dead kids hacked to death with machetes?!

“The government has got it wrong, fundamentally wrong.”

Community leader and former chair of the South Sudanese Community Association in Victoria, Achol Marial, then spoke on how the horrific incident has impacted the community.

“Everybody is quite shattered at the moment,” Ms Marial told Jacqui Felgate.

“It’s making the community feel like they’re not of value,” she said in response to the silence from the state government.

Premier Jacinta Allan released a statement late on Monday afternoon in relation to the double murder.

“Action is a good thing, but I think that statement was a day late and a buck short,” Felgate said.
