Jacqui Felgate reviews: An Albert Park icon that’s stood the test of time
Misuzu’s had stood the test of time.
It’s a local landmark — with red lanterns strung from trees light up Victoria Street in Albert Park — and one those in the know keep coming back to. The reason is simple; it’s authentic, the service is impeccable, the prices are reasonable and the food is faultless.

It’s a great first date restaurant or just as good one for the whole family.
It’s a small place with comfy leather and wooden chairs and a long bar, which is often packed because Misuzu’s is always booked out.
We started with the Agedashi Prawn Goyza — 6 crispy prawn wontons swimming in a dashi and ginger broth. This dish has been on the menu for years and it never disappoints.
Scallops with lemongrass were on the specials menu and came served in the shell, plump and juicy and delicious.
You can also choose between the traditional pan seared pork or chicken gyoza – you won’t find better in Melbourne.
The sushi chefs behind the bar slice a mixed platter to order, which is so fresh and just the right mix of sashimi and sushi for two people.
Mains were a miso cod from the specials menu, with greens. The miso fish is authentic and again just so fresh and clean. Don’t miss the wagyu beef, stir fried with chilli miso sauce.
Misuzu’s also has an extensive and well-thought-out wine list.
Pro tip: Misuzu’s also has a more casual takeaway next door – the take home salads are absolute crowd pleasers.
