Jacqui Felgate uncovers emerging problem with Victorian prison system

Jacqui Felgate has uncovered an emerging problem with Victoria’s prisons, where hundreds of beds lay empty because the government can’t afford them.
As the Allan government considers changes to bail laws, the 3AW Drive host has voiced concerns there won’t be enough money to incarcerate extra youth offenders.

“We have hundreds of empty prison beds,” she said on 3AW.
“And that is because the government cannot afford to open them.”
