Jake King has clashed with the AFL after it reportedly rejected his application for a Brownlow medal media pass.

The former Richmond player says it was because of his friendship with former bikie Toby Mitchell.

King has been working for the Marngrook Footy Show and will be on the red carpet interviewing players.

His application has since been approved, but he says it was initially denied.

‘I was told if I went to the event I’d be escorted off the premises,’ King told Neil Mitchell.
