Jalal Brothers charged by counter-terror police over pranks
The Jalal brothers have been charged by counter-terror police over their controversial pranks.
Authorities confirmed on Thursday that two men, aged 20 and 18, and a teenage boy, 16, had been charged following the execution of a warrant at South Morang.
The trio have been charged with public nuisance, possessing a prohibited weapon and behaving in an offensive manner in a public place.
The charges relate to material posted on a ‘social media website.’
Arman and Max have been bailed by police to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 20, with a condition that they not to produce, upload or publish on any social media site any images or video that is offensive in nature.
A 16-year-old boy was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
The Jalals posted a video to their 1.8 million Facebook followers of fake drive-by shootings with a loud toy gun while wear traditional Middle Eastern outfits.
They have also filmed themselves placing bags over people’s heads as they wait at ATMs.
Commissioner Graham Ashton told Neil Mitchell their behaviour was ‘deplorable’.
