James Kelly is a ‘massive chance’ of playing for Essendon this season, says Sam ‘Scoop’ McClure.

The recently retired Geelong star has attracted the interest of the Bombers after 12 of their players were banned from playing this year due to a doping ban.

While fellow recent retirees like Brian Lake and Mathew Stokes had also been mentioned as possible top-ups, McClure said it was conversations with Kelly which had reached a ‘meaningful’ stage.

‘He’s still a massive chance to play for the Bombers in 2016,’ Scoop said on 3AW’s Sports Today.
