Jane Garrett accused of media leaks, as UFU boss brushes off criticism
Former Emergency Services Minister Jane Garrett has been accused of leaking to the media at a heated caucus meeting on Tuesday.
It’s understood MP’s, including a senior minister, spoke out against those behind the damaging leaks which have plagued the Premier in recent months.
Daniel Andrews has been forced to deny claims he made an insensitive comment about a former Liberal MP battling cancer.
While a memo, obtained by The Herald Sun, revealed Mr Andrews was told to consider asking United Firefighter Union boss Peter Marshall to be more respectful towards ministers.
Mr Marshall has given evidence to a parliamentary inquiry into fire preparedness this afternoon.
Speaking outside parliament, Mr Marshall brushed off allegations his behaviour had been inappropriate.
‘I’m not even entering into that,’ he said.
‘At the end of the day, there’s been an extensive attempt to vilify not only myself, but the union.
‘My only interest was getting a good outcome for members.’
