Japanese rickshaw driver’s tour around Australia turns heads
Intrepid Japanese traveler Yuji Suzuki is making his way around Australia but there’s a twist- he’s doing it in a rickshaw.
Ahead of the 2020 Olympics, the Tokyo local is spreading the good word about his local culture as part of a documentary he’s making.
Set to arrive in Melbourne over the weekend, Mr Suzuki told Tony Jones he was offering free rides on his rickshaw to anyone who was interested.
“We’re going to stay in Melbourne until December 28,” he said.
“I tried to get a busking license but didn’t get it because the rickshaw is huge.
He turned heads travelling on the Hume Highway by rickshaw but said his unique mode of transport raised the ire of police.
“It’s crazy,” he said.
“Police said we could use the Hume Highway (to travel) but I used to take another way and the police got angry.
