SBS has announced a plan to recreate the Eurovision song contest – in Asia.

And with an enormous potential audience on the line, the right to host ‘Asiavision’ could be quite lucrative.

Former Premier Jeff Kennett has told Ross and John Melbourne is uniquely placed to host it.

‘It just adds to the cultural mix of Victoria,’ Mr Kennett said.

And Lord Mayor Robert Doyle is also on board. 

‘Melbourne is the obvious choice,’ Cr Doyle told 3AW Breakfast.

‘I don’t think you need to go through some farcical selection process to pretend that any other city could host an event like this.’
