Jetstar and Virgin Airlines cop large fines over alleged ‘drip pricing’
Two major airlines are facing hefty fines after they were found to have advertised false and misleading flight prices.
The Federal Court has ordered Jetstar pay more than $500,000 for breaching consumer law.
Virgin Airlines has also been slapped with a $200,000 dollar fine, for allegedly using ‘drip pricing’ in 2015.
Both airlines advertised a price at the start of an online booking, which didn’t include extra fees and charges.
The A-Triple-C says the airlines have since changed their tactic, but warns it will be keeping a close eye out for the practice.
