Jimmy Bartel responds to Chris Scott after the Geelong coach said he could have handled exit better
By JAKE BOURKE
Geelong great Jimmy Bartel says he’s stumped by criticism from his former coach about his exit from the club.
Chris Scott has told K-Rock the 2007 Brownlow medallist’s departure could have been handled better.
‘It wasn’t perfect – but it wasn’t perfect from Jimmy’s side either, to be frank,’ the Geelong coach said.
That comment has left 3AW Football’s newest addition perplexed.
‘I’m a little bit confused by it?’ Bartel said on 3AW.
‘I’d love for him to elaborate on how he thinks I should have handled it better.
‘I can’t speak for Chris Scott (and) he must feel that way, but I don’t think I publicly ever said anything against the club or the way it was handled?
‘Lots of people made comment around the time and I think that’s where people sometimes get confused on how they think I’m feeling, or the way it’s being played out and not actually whether I’m being quoted.
‘That tends to happen a bit in football.’
Bartel admits he wanted to play on, but he understood the ‘business’ side of football.
