Jimmy Bartel says cricket has cannibalised itself and the past experience of following the players of a team is gone.

“There’s so much cricket content, and it is 12 months a year, and there’s so many formats,” he told Sam McClure.

He also says there is a lot of sport content besides cricket in Australia and cricket is not the top sport.

“Our population, I think is around 26 million,  and rapidly rising but cricket … would be the third or fourth most popular sport because we’d say AFL and the Rugby League are one and two,” he said.
