Josh Frydenberg says the federal election is not a lost cause for Liberal Party

3aw mornings

Josh Frydenberg says the federal election is not a lost cause for the government, despite Saturday’s disastrous loss for the coalition in Victoria.

But Neil Mitchell says he’s got his head in the sand.

Speaking on 3AW, the federal treasurer said the Liberal Party had a lot of work to do in the lead-up to next year’s federal election.

He denies his party is on the nose with the public.

“I wouldn’t extrapolate what happened over the weekend in Victoria to what’s going to happen at the next federal election,” Frydenberg said.

“Firstly, the issues are different.”
