Sydney star Josh Kennedy admits he was ‘shocked’ with the AFL’s standing in NSW when he arrived in the harbour city.

But he says the game is definitely growing.

The Swans star joined Sports Today on Thursday, where he was asked about growing tensions between Victorian clubs and their NSW rivals over recruiting zones.

Kennedy, who started his career at Hawthorn, said it was definitely a different atmosphere up north.

‘When I first came up, I was pretty na?ve coming from Melbourne,’ he explained on Sports Today.

‘I thought AFL would be as big up here as it is down there and I was shocked how little was known and said about it.

‘But just doing a lot of the school visits and clinics throughout the community I think that’s where I’ve noticed the biggest change over the years in just a short period of time.’?
