Junior basketball league introduces ‘ridiculous’ $50 fine

Jacqui Felgate

A rumour from 3AW Breakfast has been confirmed, a basketball association in Melbourne’s east has introduced a $50 dollar fine for teams who use the incorrect brand of ball for warm-ups or games.

Andrea, who is involved with one of the teams in the Eastern District Junior Basketball Association, (EDJBA), says she found the email “ridiculous.”

“We don’t have a problem with them playing the game with the brand of Molten, but I just don’t understand when it stopped being about the kids and it became more about a fine,” she told Jacqui Felgate.
