A junior footy match between under-18 girls in the inner-north was called off yesterday after an all-in melee in the last quarter.

During the Rumour File, Ross and John were told the game had to be abandoned due to an invasion of parents onto the ground.

Peter Labbad, President of Tullamarine Football Club, clarified some of the details with 3AW Breakfast.

He confirmed an incident did occur in the game between the Essendon Douta Stars and Tullamarine in the under-18 girls EDFL yesterday.

“There was some push and shove with the girls, it was pretty brutal,” Peter said.

“More brutal than some of our senior men’s games.

“Nothing to do with parents, just a whole heap of girls in.

“You’re talking about girls slapping each other, what are you meant to do?”

Peter said language from both sides was “really poor” and he commended the umpires for calling off the game, saying there was nothing to be gained by letting them continue.
