‘Just sitting and waiting’: Centrelink delays of up to nine months ongoing

3AW Afternoons
3AW-Istock-Centrelink

Callers on Afternoons today have detailed their experiences with Centrelink wait times of up to 9 months for things such as paid parental leave payments, health care cards, and childcare subsidies.

Caller Kim says her issue was only resolved after she went down to her local branch and “bawled her eyes out”, after waiting for three months while going through chemotherapy.

Independent MP for Kooyong, Dr Monique Ryan, says it’s a “really difficult time” for Centrelink but urges people to call their local MP about ongoing issues.
