Justin Leppitsch sacked as coach of the Brisbane Lions

Justin Leppitsch has been sacked as coach of the Brisbane Lions.

The club confirmed on Monday it would be releasing Leppitsch from his contract, which still had a year to run.

Leppitsch found out by phone, with the club’s players told via email.

He managed just 14 wins in his three seasons as coach.

Lions chief executive Greg Swann said that was ultimately the deciding factor.

He told 3AW the board found several thrashings alarming.

‘It was probably the nature of some of those losses,’ Swann explained on Sports Today.
