Kane Cornes ‘staggered’ Brad Hill would meet with Fremantle

Kane Cornes is ‘staggered’ that Brad Hill has chosen to meet with Fremantle.

The Hawthorn speedster flew to Perth last Friday and met with Dockers coach Ross Lyon.

But Cornes told 3AW Football the timing is ‘extraordinary’.

‘There’s a side sitting on top of the ladder, he would play an integral part in that,’ Cornes said.

‘He’s choosing to meet with an opposition club at Round 18. That is staggering to me.

Cornes said Hill is ‘vital’ to the Hawks going forward.

Hawthorn legend Leigh Matthews said Alastair Clarkson has handled the situation maturely.

‘You know players and managers are speaking to other clubs, so there’s no use cracking it if you learn one of yours is speaking to someone else,’ Matthews said.

Matthews said Hill is worth something like Pick 10.
