‘Keep your phones close’: CFA chief provides update on Gippsland bushfires

There are still three large bushfires uncontained in Gippsland with the chief officer of the CFA warning people to be ready to leave at any time.

Jason Heffernan says communities south of the Briagolong fire have been warned to have the Vic Emergency app downloaded when they go to bed.

“Briagolong, which is probably the largest fire of concern, some 5600 hectares now, a total fire perimeter of 42 kilometres,” he told Tom Elliott.
