Jesse Hogan has extended his contract with the Demons, putting to bed speculation of a trade.

The star forward was contracted for the 2017 season, but this new deal ensures he will remain in red and blue for at least the next three seasons.

3AW Breakfast’s Rumour File heard on Monday that Hogan’s extension was imminent.

Hogan is seen as a key member of the Demons’ list as they seek a long-awaited return to the finals.

The 2015 Rising Star winner said he was delighted to have his future secured.

‘Melbourne is where I want to be. I’m really excited about what we can do together as a footy club,’ he said.

General Manager of Football Josh Mahoney said the club was always sure Hogan would re-sign.

‘Jesse joins a number of other players who have re-signed with the Club this year, which is a great indication for what we are building,’ he said.

Hogan has played 41 games for Melbourne since his debut 2015, booting 85 goals.

He has led the Demons’ goal-kicking in both 2015 and 2016, finishing in the Top 10 in the Best & Fairest in both seasons.

The Demons finished 11th in 2016, missing the finals by two games.
