Key piece of Victoria’s COVID-19 testing pipeline out of action

A key piece of the COVID-19 testing pipeline in Victoria has broken down.

In a one line statement the Health Department admitted one of Victoria’s PCR test analysers is out of action temporarily.

But they claim Victoria’s public and private laboratories use many analysers, and it is not having a significant impact on turnaround times.

It’s understood the test analyser, when working, has the ability to process tests in bulk.

Wait times for results have blown out to three to five days.
