Knife-wielding pair arrested over early morning CBD mugging

Two men have been arrested over a mugging in Melbourne’s CBD early this morning.

Three males, one armed with a large knife, targeted a man on Flinders Lane near King Street.

They demanded his ID and the victim handed it over just before 1:30am.

Nobody was injured.

Police arrived at the scene quickly and confronted the armed offender. He was tasered before being arrested.

Officers then found a second offender hiding nearby and ran after him, deploying OC spray before arresting him.

The pair — a 27-year-old Reservoir man and a 19-year-old man of no fixed address — are currently in custody.
