Labor under heat for jobs commercial which was ‘too white’

Jacqui Felgate

The Labor Party has been criticised over an advert which has been accused of being ‘too white.’

Bill Shorten appears in the video, which is about Australian jobs.

Eleven of the 12 people who stand next to the Labor leader in the commercial are Caucasian.

It led to fierce feedback on social media, with Mr Shorten saying it was a ‘bad oversight’ that wouldn’t happen again.

But Tom Elliott said it was a classic case of ‘identity politics’ that has swamped modern Australia.
