Lachie Henderson ‘wasn’t completely happy’ with mum ringing 3AW Football
New Geelong utility Lachie Henderson admits he wasn’t entirely happy with his mother ringing 3AW to defend him.
Vonnie Henderson created a brief media storm in August when she called 3AW Football to hit back at comments made by AFL boss Gillon McLachlan about her son’s departure from Carlton.
Henderson revealed on Sports Today he was blissfully unaware about what was happening until it was too late.
‘I was actually playing golf with dad at the time,’ the 25-year-old said with a laugh on 3AW.
‘I had no idea it happened.
‘I wasn’t completely happy about it.
‘Look, a lot was being said at the time and I think mum sort of just reacted to it.’
But, naturally, Henderson has since cleared the air with mum.
He said he’d also spoken with McLachlan.
‘Looking back now, it wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened,’ Henderson conceded.
‘It was just a mum being a mum.’
The 196cm tall utility also opened up about his decision to leave the Blues.
‘They weren’t always the easiest discussions to have, but in the end they respected it all and the decision,’ Henderson said.
