Lara property raided by Greyhound Racing Victoria

RUMOUR CONFIRMED: A property near Geelong that’s believed to be connected to a disqualified greyhound trainer has been raided.

In The Doghouse told 3AW Breakfast greyhounds were scratched from a race meeting yesterday in Cranbourne as a result.

Greyhound Racing Victoria say they conducted a raid on a property at Lara yesterday after allegations of doping dogs with performance enhancing drugs.

Charlie Bezzina, senior investigations manager at Greyhound Racing Victoria, said it served as a warning to anybody doing the wrong thing.

‘The welfare of the dogs is paramount,’ he said.

He said while it was disappointing, it was a small minority in the industry and they would be ‘hit hard’.
