Following Anthony Albanese’s brief national broadcast on Wednesday night, the Prime Minister has been hit with a wave of intense backlash.

3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott criticised the address as being “largely about nothing,” comparing it unfavourably to more momentous national addresses made by previous Prime Ministers.

Red Bridge director Tony Barry suggested the speech was “better suited for an Instagram reel” rather than a formal address to the nation.

Mr Barry stressed that by telling people “don’t panic,” the Prime Minister may have inadvertently increased public anxiety.
